Odor Complaint West 6th Street

UPDATE: Mayor Dominick and the borough solicitor met with Chief Turner early this morning regarding the multiple calls regarding this issue to the Borough. The Chief wants to encourage anyone who is affected by the odor to please call 9-1-1 so WARP can investigate. Although the borough is working with DEP, WARP will investigate any violations of our local ordinances and proceed accordingly.

Recently, the Borough has been contacted by multiple residents complaining of an odor near the 6th St. border with West Wyoming. It has been reported that it is causing eye and breathing issues.  I reached out to DEP,  whose representative stated that he came out to the site but did not find a “strong, persistent, and objectionable” odor (the legal standard which would require more involvement from DEP). Based on the complaints we have received over the weekend, we would like to provide the complaint number for DEP (570) 826-2511. We ask that you register your individual complaints with them, and continue to keep us informed.

On behalf of the Mayor and Council, I have requested DEP be present at our regularly scheduled meeting on March 10, 2025 at 7:00 p.m.  I have been assured there will be three representatives from DEP at this meeting. Laura Dennis-Bovani, Solicitor
